Hi! I'm glad to see you here!

Here's what sets me apart as a UX Researcher and Designer . . .

I'm a Third Culture Kid (now adulting and settled!)

I've spent much of my life as an international nomad, living in 13 countries and travelling to some 80. I also speak several languages.

So I've developed an innate appreciation for the kaleidoscope of perspectives we humans embrace.

When I investigate user experiences, this intuitiveness guides my focus towards the nuances of user expectations.

During my doctoral studies, I used a toolbox full of different research methods.

More importantly, these methods required an awareness of the unique 'sunglasses' everyone wears when interpreting their reality - including my own shades.

I use a variety of methods when gathering and interpreting data, knowing the importance of neutrality, transparency and integrity.

This approach builds trust in the relationship with stakeholders, the foundation to any successful project.

I have several years of experience as a K-12 & HigherEd Project Leader & Educator.

Educators rely on user experience research and design every day – also known as ‘differentiated instruction’.

We find out quickly that any product, be it a worksheet or a game, must appeal to the emotional needs of the user to be effective.

I understand the power of empathy, diversity and accessibility. As businesses know, this awareness can directly influence the success of product design.

And this is my approach to work . . .

I rely on extensive research to answer questions about the problem at hand.

It takes different angles to explore the intricacies of problems, so I use different methods when I'm investigating: interviews, surveys, observation, usability tests, shadowing, questionnaires, conversations - whatever it takes until I'm satisfied I understand the root of an issue.

I am great at creating order out of chaos.

I enjoy exploring the knots and puzzles in raw data, finding connections and patterns and then getting it all organised into comprehensible information.

I really like figuring it all out together - it's challenging and fun.

Thank goodness for different viewpoints - working together with clients, end users, product owners, engineers and designers can open up a whole new perspective on how best to make a product.

I invest a lot of time facilitating conversations that bring them into the process.

I believe in human-centred design that has a positive impact on end users, and ultimately on their lives. And besides the bottom line, isn't that the point of UX design?

In my free time I love an

afternoon ride on the Harley, building chicken coops for friends or enjoying a lazy afternoon

on the beach.

Finally, when it's all said and done . . .
